How to Travel  
Flights Within Spain
Domestic flights within Spain can be booked through trans-Atlantic carriers. The following carriers offer service:

Railways
Spain has an extensive rail system with fast, comfortable trains.
  • RENFE is the national rail network. Visit www.renfe.es
  • AVE is the high-speed train that travels between Madrid and Seville, going through Ciudad Real, Puertollano and Córdoba. Traveling at speeds of up to 185 miles per hour, the Madrid-Seville run takes 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  • TALGO 200 is the fast train that covers the Madrid-Málaga-Torremolinos-Fuengirola route in 4 hours and 35 minutes. The train also covers the Madrid-Cádiz and Madrid-Huelva routes in 4 hours and 50 minutes and in 4 hours and 25, respectively, as well as the Madrid-Algeciras route in 5 hours and 50 minutes.
  • ALARIS covers the Madrid-Albacete-Valencia route in 3-1/2 hours on some departures. Stops are made at Alcazar de San Juan, Xativa, Gandía and Castellón.
  • EUROMED covers the Barcelona-Valencia- Alicante route in 4 hours and 35 minutes for some departures with intermediate stops at Tarragona and Castellón.

Bus service is available throughout Spain and is comfortable and efficient.

Entry Formalities
No visa is required for U.S. passport holders for a stay of up to three months. Those with passports from other countries should contact the Consulate of Spain.

Shopping Hours
Big department stores are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Most shops keep traditional business hours, about 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Some stores are open on Sunday. Banks are mainly open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Electricity
Electricity is supplied throughout Spain at 230 volts, 50Hz.

Road Rules
Driving is on the right hand side of the road. An international driver’s license is required and can be obtained at AAA. The minimum driving age is 18.

Tipping
Tipping is not an obligatory part of any service rendered, but may be offered as a bonus when service excels. Employed persons do not depend upon tips or gratuities for their income.
