| The school is located in the medium-sized town of Almuñecar
in the South of Spain. Beaches, the laid-back Andalucian life
style and the short distance to Granada and Malaga make Almuñecar
a perfect place to study in a quite setting while having the
possibility to visit all major tourist attractions of Andalusia.
The school's central location within the city gives
students easy access to transportation, shops and
entertainment.
At the same time, the tranquility and natural beauty of the
beaches and surrounding mountains is only a few minutes away
by taxi or bus. |

The language teachers
have superior degrees in Hispanic Philology in addition to
their teaching training certificate CAP. The rest of the teachers
have degrees in their respective specialties (Commercial Spanish,
Literature, etc.) Each student will have at least two teachers
during the course. The group of teachers are coordinated by
the Director of the Institute. The teaching will be carried
out entirely in Spanish using direct methods and looking for
mental association between the object or concept and the corresponding
word or words in Spanish. Vocabulary and grammar are studied
and learned using situations which help them to be understood
and defined. We emphasize the continual practice in written
and spoken language.

| There will be various
exercises to practice different grammatical structures, regular
and irregular verbs, dictations, essays, reading with special
attention to phonetics and free or controlled conversation in
Spanish. All these exercises will be checked by teachers. |

Courses |

| The teaching will be

words in Spanish. Vocabulary and grammar are learnt using

Standard Courses (20 lessons per week)
The Standard Course is a 20 lesson per week course which offers
students the opportunity to improve their language skills while
enjoying a degree of independence during their stay.

Levels |
|
|
| Our courses are structured
in four basic levels, each with their corresponding sub-levels.
Students can be incorporated directly at any level thus allowing
the study of the Spanish language by anyone who wants, independently
of their current knowledge of the language. Level
A (Basic): For all those people who gave never studied
the Spanish language before. The main aim is to guarantee
the student, in a minimum time, a basic level in expression
and understanding of the language in different day to day
situations.
Level B (Intermediate): For those students
who have already some knowledge of the Spanish language but
don't know the grammar very well and need to acquire more
vocabulary. On finishing a course at this level the students
will be able to express themselves in a reasonably acceptable
way grammatically and will have notably increased their vocabulary.

Level C (Advanced):
For those students who have a good or very good knowledge of
the Spanish grammar in theory but need to put it into practice.
At this level the student will obtain a more specific vocabulary,
and at the end of the course will be able to hold deep conversations
on any topic without problems. Special attention will be given
to more conflictive areas of Spanish grammar.
Level D (Very Advanced): For those students
who know all the grammar and have a good vocabulary but still
make mistakes using and coordinating both. At this level the
student will be involved in extensive study of both theoretical
and practical aspects of the language, dealing with all aspects
of the language and all aspects of life. |

Dates |

| The classes take place from Monday to Friday (except holidays).
The students can arrive on Sunday and leave their accommodation
on Saturday following the last day of class. There are no
classes on the following days, no replacement classes are
offered and there is no refund for lost classes: 28 February,
Good Friday (Easter), 1st May, 15th August, 12nd October, 1st
November, 6th December, 8th December
The school will be closed for Christmas Holidays :
from 22nd December 2007 to 7th January 2008, plus 2 local
holidays.

RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES Daily programme of
activities that consists of:
Activities taking place in Granada and Almuñécar:
- Conferences on the literature, history, art, etc., of
Spain and Latin-America.
- Informal talks of current topics related to the Hispanic
world, with the aid of slides, videos, etc.
- Poetry workshop, with studies of different Hispanic poets
and their work.
- Latin-American and Spanish music workshop.
- Series of Spanish films with daily showing of a recent
film from Spanish cinema, directed by representative and
current film-makers such as Pedro Almodóvar, Carlos Saura,
Alejandro Amenábar...
- Class on Latin-America, with videos and informal talks.
- Various fiestas and free sangría, a typical Andalusian
drink.
 Activities in Almuñécar:
- Mountain biking, both in the town and in its neighbouring
rural areas. Those who are following our courses can use the
bikes within the hours that they are not needed for the
scheduled rides.
- Beach volleyball.
- Football and basketball.
- Visit to the Valle Tropical (Tropical Valley), including a
walk and lectures on crops growing and their organisation.
- Visit to the ancient part of the town with a lecture on
its history.
All the activities mentioned above are included in the price
of the courses and participation is optional.
Activities not included in the price of the course:
The price of these activities will be kept to a minimum,
enough to cover costs such as transport, entrance fees or
necessary materials.
- Cookery workshop, with the preparation of dishes typical
of Spanish gastronomy
- Visit to the Alhambra and the Generalife
- Visit to public shows
- Paella on the beach
- Visit to the Archaeological Museum
- Visit to the Ornithological Park
- Boat trips
- Horse-riding
Along with the language course, you may choose to do the
following complementary courses:
- Sevillanas course, a typical Andalusian dance comprising
four parts.
- Guitar course, both flamenco and classic tunes
- Paragliding course.
- Windsurfing course.
- Underwater diving course.
These courses are carried out in collaboration with
specialist companies and professionals who work in close contact
with IMSOL. The price of the courses varies between € 43 and €
400.
Each week, there are excursions to places of interest like
Córdoba, Seville, The White Towns, Nerja caves, the Ruta del
Renacimiento, Granada, Antequera, Ronda, etc., as well as
adventure excursions to the Sierras joining the two towns
(Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Cázulas, etc.)
The organization of these trips is carried out by the
Institute in collaboration with professional agencies
specialized in this kind of activities. Their cost may vary from
€ 32 to € 240. On these trips, all students will be accompanied
by a guide who will provide all relevant information. |
